Web Sites:
Quilts-
Not Just for Beds - by Jane L. Kakaley. I absolutely love
her designs. She has a beautiful selection of her own patterns.
Quilt-a-way
Fabrics, Bellows Falls, VT - Carol is the fastest cutter
on the Internet. She has a fabulous selection of fabrics, especially
batiks, and her prices are really good. Check back often as her inventory
is constantly growing and she runs great specials. Check out her batiks
of the month club, and sign up for her e-mail newsletter which often
announces her latest arrivals and specials. Her web site is a real treat.
I cannot say enough good things about www.quiltaway.com. And, if you
are ever driving north on route 91 north, western edge of New Hampshire,
she's just minutes from Exit 5. I recommend calling first.
Art sites:
Academy
Artworks, Rochester,
NH - Susan's a long time friend, and awesome artist. From her Gallery
111 she hosts art exhibitions of works from exciting new artists. Academy
Artworks is her studio from which she offers a wide range of instructional
art classes for children and adults. Her web site is updated with the
latest art exhibition, students' artwork, and the latest class schedules.
Worth a visit!
Quilt shops:
Portsmouth
Fabric Company, Portsmouth, NH - Located in downtown Portsmouth,
this shop offers a wide range of fabrics with a definite flare for the
contemporary prints, specialty fabrics, and a Bernina dealership. I
have taken a few classes there as well. Check them out!
Cottage Herbs,
151 Diamond Hill Road, Berwick, Maine (207) 698-5507 - In a very out
of the way place, full of country charm and fabrics. Offering much more
than fabrics, it's worth a visit, but call first. They offer some tempting
classes too!
Pinetree
Quiltworks,
South Portland, Maine (207) 799-7357 - This is a full service quilt
shop on-line. A particular favorite with my husband who has received
wonderful support when making those all important gift giving decisions.
Keepsake
Quilting, Centre Harbor, NH - I am so lucky to live close
by this shop. It's enormous. It contains hundreds of quilts for sale,
thousands and thousands of bolts of fabric, notions, books, and a nice
selection of gift and novelties. Don't miss it if you are in the New
Hampshire area. If you're not local, then ask to be put on their mailing
list, as it is always a special treat to find their catalogue in my
mailbox.
The
Quilt Shop at Vac-n-Sew, North Conway, NH
- Stop in if you are in the area.
The Village
Quilter , Chester, NH - A small shop with friendly, knowledgeable
staff and a selection of fabrics, books, and notions that really appeal
to me.
Knight's,
near York, Maine (207)-361-2500 - A good selection of quality fabrics,
contemporary to reproductions. Offering books, patterns, notions, and
a neat selection of gifts.
Red Barn Sewing
& Yarn Center, Merrimac, Massachusetts (978)-346-9292 - Friendly,
knowledgeable service.
